February 2008
Welcome to the Centralis Bulletin for February 2008 - bringing you details of an exciting new seminar series, an update to our Harvester software (now Citrix Ready) and our participation in an upcoming analyst event!
Building on last year's R&D efforts around virtualisation and streaming, Centralis has teamed up with Citrix and Microsoft to bring you a unique roadmap and strategy event - plus a demonstration featuring all the latest products from Citrix Summit 2008.

I.T. Strategy Update Seminar 2008
Centralis is holding NDA briefings on 26th (South) and 28th February (North) 2008 to cover the latest news, product roadmaps and directions, with an independent view by the only UK partner certified at the highest level by Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, WYSE and Thinstall. We now have a confirmed list of speakers from Citrix, Microsoft, AppSense and Centralis (please see the website for more details) and will be including a VDI demonstration featuring the latest Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and XenServer technologies.

These events are half-day seminars, including a practical demonstration of application and desktop delivery, followed by lunch with representatives from the sponsoring vendors present to give advice and guidance. The sessions are exclusive, limited and available only by invitation from Centralis, so act now and reserve a place in what promises to be a lively and informative session, by registering your interest in one of the events.

One customer's feedback on a recent demo:  "There were some gaps in my understanding of how things would finally work when I proposed a whole organisation adoption of Citrix for all of our 150+ applications. The Centralis demonstration brought to life the way that I had anticipated it working. It was also inspirational to see the relevant technologies coming together so neatly." Bill Remmer, Assistant IT Director, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Centralis Delivers Citrix Managed Service Success for NSK

Customer benefits from greatly improved reliability and availability of Citrix services to pan-European operations.

Since the late 1990s, NSK Europe has used Citrix to deliver key applications to personnel in the UK and mainland Europe. In 2001, it was recognised that the performance of those systems was falling below acceptable standards and Centralis was invited to carry out an audit on the installation and to recommend remedial work. A Health Check on the installation was carried out by Centralis and a programme of work was carried out that helped to stabilise the Citrix environment and provided an improved quality of service.

In late 2003, NSK Europe engaged Centralis to take full day-to-day responsibility for the Citrix farm in order to allow its IT team to concentrate on more productive areas of service improvement. Centralis commenced this Managed Service in January 2004, providing a daily check on the Citrix infrastructure, unlimited technical support and taking full responsibility for management and maintenance. This support involves close liaison with NSK Europe's internal Service Desk for reporting and processing relevant support calls and integration with NSK's change control systems in order that change to the Citrix environment is strictly controlled.

Based around a monthly service report, a review is held involving a dedicated Consultant and Account Manager from Centralis and NSK Europe's IT team and discusses performance against SLAs, logged calls and trends, projects and plans.

The proactive nature of the Centralis Managed Service, together with tight control over changes, have greatly improved the reliability and availability of Citrix services to NSK Europe's operations, as acknowledged by Tony Doran, the Head of I.S. Europe: "NSK uses many partners to deliver its services and the Centralis Service Desk is by far and away the best for friendly and efficient service."
