Centralising to Increase Agility
The rising cost of travel, the drive to improve work-life balance and reduce carbon emissions, the need to respond to threats of pandemics and protests all cause organisations to look at how they can securely give users access to applications in locations outside the standard workplace. Centralising application delivery applications has been core business for Centralis for well over 12 years, working with customers across every sector, from medium sized customers up to some of the UK's largest organisations. Projects have ranged in scope from the delivery of secure remote access to a single application to executive staff through to the delivery of entire workplaces to many thousands of mobile workers. By separating application delivery and data from client configuration, Centralis enables customers to deliver applications to key workers at any location, enabling organisations to meet major objectives including business continuity, branch office consolidation and data security compliance. Delivering Applications to their Point of UseDrawing on product offerings from key partner vendors Citrix, Microsoft, VMware and AppSense, Centralis can provide cost-effective, secure application delivery to its point of use, whether that is employees homes, hot-desking centres, branch offices or to mobile workers. Centralis helps customers create highly flexible, secure, scalable and resilient centralised application delivery environments. The results change the way an organisation delivers information services to its users and can help the whole organisation become more agile, while actually reducing operating costs. Mobile workforces need more than just access to real-time systems. They need their device to be reliable and easy to use. Centralis has worked with mobile teams of many thousands of users to create standard builds and ensure that these are locked-down, secure and centrally managed. Adding either virtualised applications or access to virtual desktops (VDI) increases the scope of the applications which can be delivered, without compromising the standard build or the security of the corporate data. Business Continuity & Disaster RecoveryOnce application delivery is centralised it can be used to assist business continuity and DR provision. Whether the requirement is to provide access from a recovery centre or enable key workers to log in from their home PCs, Centralis can assist in creating a reliable, scalable solution that will comply with the most stringent security compliance standards. Hot Desking and Home WorkingCreating a centralised application delivery model not only simplifies the operation for the I.T. team, it can have significant benefits for the organisation and staff too. Bracknell Forest Borough Council has appeared as a case study at two Citrix iForum conferences. Ian Slee, Assistant Borough IT Services Manager at the Council says "The Citrix implementation has enabled the Council to introduce hot desking and home working services. We are now able to rapidly deploy access to any back office application, independent of the end client desktop version or location. This environment also enables the team to rapidly rollout upgrades without the need to modify any client workstation configuration." Many customers report that staff use flexible working solutions to improve work life balance by working from home, avoiding peak period travel and making use of more flexible office space through hot desking and drop-in centres. The result is typically happier staff and improved staff retention - together with reduced travel and accommodation costs. Contact us for more information on Flexible & Mobile Working |
