How is a Citrix Solution Designed and Deployed?
Centralis specialise in strategic Citrix solutions. The stages and components involved in best practice Citrix
design projects illustrate our commitment to delivering high quality
implementations for demanding customers ...
continued.
Strategic Designs for Citrix are typically created following an
Infrastructure Assessment and possibly a
Proof of Concept if required.
The Design phase of a project creates a detailed Architecture Design
document, which is used to plan and commission the subsequent Build &
Test of the Citrix environment, in which the full production application
suite, design and overall solution is subjected to extensive testing to
prove suitability for production deployment.
The strategic Citrix Design & Build is based on a detailed project plan,
with critical elements including:
- Citrix Architecture Design
- Featuring XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer, Provisioning Server &
Edgesight as required
- Building the Citrix Environment
- Provisioning operating systems to servers and VDI desktops
- Packaging, Deploying (Streaming) & Testing Critical Applications
- Validating Design against Requirement
- Finalising Server Build(s)
- Creating Development & Test environments
- Printing Solution Design
- Updating Procedures
- Rolling out the completed solution
As with the IA, Strategic Design is a structured process.
In our experience a truly effective, scalable design can only be created
by a consultant with many years practical experience of corporate Citrix
solutions.

There are occasions when “off the shelf” software simply does not fit a
customer’s environment, either because there is a particular requirement
or issue which has not been considered.
Unlike most partners who simply resell software, Centralis are also
members of the Citrix Global Alliance Partnership, Microsoft
Gold Certified Partners, VMware Enterprise partners and members of the Novell Global ISV programme. As
such Centralis maintain close links with the development and product
management teams of these key industry vendors, using their software
developer toolkits and APIs to develop both commercial and bespoke
software.
This allows us to develop software products and utilities to help
deliver projects for our customers as demanded by our end to end
solutions driven approach. These have ranged from simplified printing
solutions to directory-enabled login utilities, and from a utility which
limits processor utilisation to one which limits application access via
Web Interface based on the users IP address.
Overall, Centralis ability to quickly develop software to provide a
final fit of solution to customer has proven to be a significant
advantage when seeking to meet our customer’s tight timescales and
budgets.

Maintaining a Citrix solution requires dedicated resource and
specialist training. Centralis customers can choose between
training their own staff, backed by our support contracts, or using Centralis to provide a fully managed
Citrix environment.
